One of my favorite quotes from Dr. Phil is, “you’ve got to name it to claim it.” This means two things to me:

• You can’t change something within yourself that you don’t acknowledge.
• You can’t expect to get what you want if you don’t even know what that something is.

If you’re struggling with either of these, it’s time to allow yourself to be led by love.

Do I detect some eye rolling brought about by the misinterpretation that being led by love is a touchy-feely statement?

It’s anything but.

The love I’m talking about is trusting the knowing that comes from a level of yourself that strives to communicate with you and express your true desires. It’s an inner voice often pushed aside due to our mind’s tendency to want to make everything logical.

In other words, “it only makes sense if it makes sense to everybody else.”  

In order to name what is beckoning to be acknowledged, ultimately revealing just what it is that you want, you must be willing to be guided by this higher love rather than the need to be understood by your peers.

This will not come without continued effort.

The desire to be understood by others is deeply ingrained in us as human beings, inherently affecting the perception that dictates our direction.

Until our eyes have been opened to it, we are often unaware that an alternate method of perception and direction even exists.

But it does.

And once your own eyes have been opened to it, you will forever more feel the pull of the force within against the force of the external and endeavor to choose which force to align with.

It’s not a matter of right or wrong, only a matter of choice.

Allowing yourself to be led by love will anoint you with the strength you need to not require the understanding of others.

As I’ve said before, and must remind myself of often, this type of understanding is essentially the equivalent of dessert: a nice treat when you get it, but not necessary for sustainment. 

And like dessert, you may crave it, but the longing eventually becomes a distant bell less capable of dictating your direction.
